The most exciting game of round 20 in the Prva A Liga took place in Skopje. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Vardar (13-7) to third ranked Badel (14-6) 62-59 in the game for the third place. Badel forced 20 Vardar turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Arin Freeman (170, college: UIC) who scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Lindsey Cleary (183-1997, college: CMS) chipped in 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Badel's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Milica Nikolic (188-2006) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Badel maintains third position with 14-6 record having just three points less than leader Kriva Palanka. Vardar at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Badel are looking forward to face Probasket (#5) in Kavadartsi in the next round. Vardar will play against Sport Tim and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Leader Kriva Palanka delivered the seventeenth victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked Probasket (10-10) 91-51. American guard Dyani Robinson (170-2001, college: N.Texas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 7 rebounds. DaJa Green contributed with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American forward Kayla Thomas (188-2003, college: MSU) replied with 13 points and 9 rebounds for Probasket. Probasket's coach Atanas Dimov gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Kriva Palanka (17-3) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Probasket lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with ten games lost. Kriva Palanka will play against MZT (#6) in Skopje in the next round where they are favorite. Probasket will play at home against Badel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Seventh ranked Patriot (4-16) played at the court of 8th ranked Sport Tim (2-18). Patriot smashed Sport Tim 78-47 on Wednesday. Worth to mention a great performance of Lauren Scott who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Patriot's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sara Mitanovska responded with 16 points and 26 rebounds. Patriot have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 4-16 record. Loser Sport Tim stay dead last with 18 lost games. Patriot will meet at home league's second-placed KAM Basket in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sport Tim will play against Vardar (#4) in Skopje and hope to secure a win.
