MZT Skopje Aerodrom claimed their eighth Macedonian Super Cup "Dragan Vasilov-Cevka" and fifth in a row on September 28, 2025, edging Kozuv Gevgelija 71-65 in a tense final decided by Vojdan Stojanovski (194-G/F-1987)'s clutch three-pointer in the closing minute.
The veteran came up with the play of the game once again. With Kozuv leading 62-63 in the 39th minute, Vojdan Stojanovski rose from a difficult position with the shot clock winding down and buried a three to give MZT an unreachable 66-62 lead, sparking celebrations as the metal city side held on for another trophy. Kozuv had been the better team for much of the contest. The Gevgelija side took a 12-6 early lead and stretched it to 18-11 by the end of a low-scoring first quarter, hinting that an upset might be in the offing against an MZT team unaccustomed to defeat. The second quarter remained tight with Kozuv maintaining the edge 23-17 in the 13th minute and 29-24 with three minutes remaining in the half before three Andrej Magdevski (192-PG-1996) free throws helped MZT flip the score to 32-31 at the break. The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair with MZT holding only a slim advantage. Kozuv equalized in the 26th minute at 44-40 (wait the source notes Kozuv erased the lead). The lead changed hands multiple times before Vojdan Stojanovski's three on the buzzer of the third gave MZT a 55-52 lead. Kozuv refused to fold Bojcev and Nikolas trimmed it to 56-57 by the 33rd minute, and Dubinski's three free throws with 1:52 left briefly put Kozuv back ahead at 62-61. Marin Petkov (192-G-2003)'s layup restored MZT's lead at 63-62, setting up Vojdan Stojanovski's decisive triple. For MZT, Gil led with 16 points and seven rebounds, Elijah McCadden (193-G-1999, college: Memphis) added 13, and Vojdan Stojanovski had 13 points, six rebounds, and three steals on top of his game-winner. Andrej Magdevski and Elijah McCadden each provided nine of MZT's first-half points before Gil took over in the third quarter. For Kozuv, Rodney Purvis (193-SG-1994, college: UConn) was magnificent with 21 points, while Nikolas added 12, Teodor Simic (215-C-2004) and Bojcev had eight apiece, and Dubinski contributed seven. |
