Spain - Canada 76-66

Spain have won Group A beating Canada 76-66 at the Olympic Games. The Spaniards, who won the silver medal in the 2016 Rio Games, have now guaranteed they will avoid facing the United States until at least the semifinals. Spain took a 23-13 lead at the start and led 6 points at the halftime. Moreover the European side added a 20-13 rally in the third period to dominate the game.
Astou Ndour (198-C-94) top-scored for the winners with 20 points and 11 rebounds, whilst Cristina Ouvina (173-PG-90) notched 15. Alba Torrens (188-G/F-89) added 12 and Queralt Casas (177-G/F-92) as well as Laura Gil (190-C-92) posted 8 each. Kia Nurse (183-PG-96, college: UConn) replied with 14 points in a loss and Natalie Achonwa (190-F-92, college: Notre Dame, agency: Wasserman) had 11.
