Australia - Puerto Rico 96-69

Australia clinched the last Quarterfinal ticket at the Olympic Games. In the last game of the Group Stage they edged Puerto Rico 96-69. The world's second-ranked team started poorly and trailed 2 points at the end of the first period. They won the second period 23-20 however were too far with the needed difference to advance. Australia erupted with massive wins in the second half to ensure at least 24 points to advance with another tiebreaker. After massive 23-8 surge and 28-17 rally, Australia grabbed the last ticket to the Quarterfinals.
Marianna Tolo (196-C-89) top-scored for the winners with 26 points and 17 rebounds, whilst Cayla George (192-C-89) netted 19. Jazmon Gwathmey (188-G-93, college: JMU) replied with 26 points in a loss. Australia will play the United States in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
