Japan claimed Paris 2024 ticket at the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament. They overcame Canada 86-82 in a thriller and will get to play at their sixth Olympic Games. Both teams nailed 20 points each in the opening period, whilst Japan grabbed a 4-point lead at the halftime. Both teams exchanged the narrow wins in the second half for the final result.
Evelyn Mawuli (180-C/F-1995) and Mai Yamamoto (163-PG-1999) top-scored for the winners with 21 points each, whilst Saori Miyazaki (167-SG-1995) poured in 16. Bridget Carleton (185-F-1997, college: Iowa St.) netted 19 in a loss, whilst Nirra Fields (175-G-1993, college: UCLA) poured in 17.
