Brazil - Germany 71:73

Germany made history as they qualified to the Olympics for the first time in the history. Germany overcame Brazil on a thriller at the Arena Guilherme Paraense to steal their ticket and left them out of the competition. Brazil needed to win by 8 points to qualify, but trailed in the first half. Germany posted a 19-14 run in the first quarter and led 4 points at the halftime. Brazil meanwhile grabbed a 67-63 lead with 2 minuted to go, however fell short at the end.
Leonie Fiebich (193-SF-2000) top-scored for the winners with 21 points and 11 rebounds, whilst Sabally Satou (193-F-1998, college: Oregon) completed a memorable performance with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists. Damiris Do Amaral (191-F-1992) replied with 20 points in defeat, while Taina Paixao (175-G-1991) and Kamilla Soares (201-C-2001) had 19 each.
