Belgium snapped two-game losing skid at the 2024 Olympic Games and did it just in time. They crushed Japan by 27 points which proved just enough for them to qualify into the quarterfinal stage in Paris. Emma Meesseman (192-C-1993, agency: LBM Management) was pivotal with 30 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the Europeans.
Belgium had their eyes on the prize from start to finish. They grabbed a 19-7 lead after the first period. Belgium extended the lead to as many as 16 points at the big break 39-23. Belgium kept running away in the third frame. They recorded a 61-39 advantage at the final break and cruised to the victory in the final stanza. Elise Ramette (171-G-1998) produced 16 points for the winners. Saki Hayashi (173-G-1995) answered with 13 points for Japan.
