There were just four rounds played in Regular Season of 1Liga and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Czarne Koszule (3-1) on the court of top-ranked Leszno on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Leszno 99-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Czarne Koszule. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Leszno dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Czarne Koszule's 36. Leszno looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Polonia W-wa's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Adrian Bogucki (215-1999) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Wendell Mitchell (190-1997, college: Texas A&M) contributed with 20 points and 8 assists for the winners. American point guard Jacoby Ross (178-1997, college: Lindenwood) replied with 25 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for Polonia W-wa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Leszno have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Stargard and Lodz. Polonia W-wa at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Inowroclaw. Leszno is looking forward to face Starogard Gd. (#11) in Starogard Gdanski in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Polonia W-wa will play at home against WKK Wroclaw (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
GKS's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Kolobrzeg, where they defeated Kotwica (1-3) 96-83. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Damian Jeszke (202-1995) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and Sebastian Bozenko who added 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side naturalized American point guard James Washington (177-1987, college: MTSU, agency: SPORTFORUM Agency) responded with 30 points and 4 assists. Kotwica's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. GKS left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Kotwica. It was Kolobrzeg's third loss in a row. Tychy will play against higher ranked Inowroclaw (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kolobrzeg will play against Bytom (#7) to get more than just one victory in their record.
Top-ranked Spojnia blasted bottom-ranked Opole (0-4) in Stargard 105-79 on Saturday evening keeping the perfect record after 4 rounds. Opole is still unable to win any game. The winners were led by Jakub Karolak who scored that evening 25 points. Even 27 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by DJ Campbell did not help to save the game for Opole. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spojnia have a solid four-game winning streak. Stargard (4-0) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Lodz and Leszno. Loser Opole still closes the standings with four games lost.
