The Regular Season in OBL is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 5 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The game between second ranked Wilki Morskie (17-8) and ninth ranked Gornik (14-11) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Wilki Morskie was crushed by Gornik in Walbrzych 97-76. Gornik dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Wilki Morskie's 28. Gornik looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by King helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) fired 23 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Lithuanian forward Tauras Jogela (203-1993, agency: Players Group) chipped in 25 points and 6 rebounds. International swingman Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz (196-1995) produced 23 points and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for lost side. Wilki Morskie's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gornik moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. King at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. They share it with Legia. Gornik is looking forward to face higher ranked Legia (#3) in Warszawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. King will play on the road against GTK in Gliwice and is hoping to win this game.
The game in Sopot was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Legia (17-8) played at the court of 5th ranked Trefl (15-10). Legia managed to secure a 7-point victory 100-93. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jayvon Graves (191-1998, college: Buffalo) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Michal Kolenda contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Paul Scruggs (190-1998, college: Xavier) answered with 16 points and 5 assists for Trefl. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with King. Trefl at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Legia will play against Gornik (#7) in Walbrzych in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Trefl will play at home against Start and hopes to get back on the winning track.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Wloclawek, where higher ranked Stal (14-11) lost to eleventh ranked Anwil (13-12) in a road game 81-90 on Monday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Stal. Elvar Fridriksson stepped up and scored 28 points and 9 assists for the winners. At the losing side Trenton Gibson responded with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anwil moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Zastal. Loser Stal keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Anwil will meet bottom-ranked Krosno (#16) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Stal will play against Zastal (#10) and hope to secure a win.
Other games of round 25 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
