Blaze Edge Out Uni To Complete Season Double - Mar 20, 2016

In the final game of Day 1 at the Centre for Sport and exercise, Boroughmuir Blaze and Edinburgh University put on a great show in front of a packed out arena. Playing on their home court, Edinburgh University struggled to take advantage as they got off to a slow start in the first quarter offensively, Blaze were able to edge in front after the first ten minutes of action, the score 19-15. Edinburgh University's shooting struggles continued from behind the arc in the second quarter which allowed Blaze to capitalise and build on their lead as the teams entered half-time. Blaze headed to the locker room with a 34-29 lead, leaving the game wide open in the second half. Following the break, Danny Costello 's Edinburgh University side looked far more inspired offensively. However, Blaze continued to pile on the pressure in pursuit of their second title in National Competitions this season after winning the league this year. a 17-16 quarter in favour of Blaze left the game evenly poised going in to the fourth, the score 51-45. The fourth quarter was when both sides really started to show why they were battling to be crowned this year's champions. An impressive quarter for both teams resulted in run from Blaze late in the game which in the end was the deciding factor in an excellent Final between two worthy sides.
FINAL SCORE: Boroughmuir Blaze 76 - 71 Edinburgh University
MVP - Blaze Forward Tomas Cicenas (F) with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
