SKL Round 6 (Regular Season): Top-ranked Celje wins another game

SKL top team - Celje (5-0) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Jezica (2-3) 106-53. Celje forced 22 Jezica turnovers and outrebounded them 49-28 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Celje looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for Brazilian forward Thayna Silva (180-1996) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Cayla King (183-2001, college: Virginia Tech) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Ana Duscak (-2006) replied with 11 points and 5 rebounds for Jezica. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Celje have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 5-0 record. Jezica at the other side keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Celje are looking forward to face Odeja KED (#4) in Skofja Loka in the next round. Jezica will play at home against the league's second-placed Triglav and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
The game in Domzale was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Odeja KED (2-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Domzale (1-4). Odeja KED managed to secure a 4-point victory 62-58. Center Manca Vesel (185-2001) scored 9 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Lejla Pamic chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Eliza Pintar (170-2002) with 12 points. Domzale's coach Tomo Oresnik rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Odeja KED moved-up to third place, which they share with Maribor. Domzale lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. Odeja KED will play against league's leader Celje at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Domzale will play against Ilrija (#6) in Ljubljana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
