Fenerbahce triumphs in TBL Fenerbahce - Turk Telecom 90:79 Fenerbahce successfully defended their TBL title beating Turk Telecom in Game 5 of the finals and completing a 4-1 win in the series. The hosts arrived to Istanbul having stolen a narrow in the fourth game and leading 3 games to 1. Turk Telecom had their backs against the wall in this one but could not come up with heroics at hostile territory. Fenerbahce were driven by a supportive crowd and got aggressive right from the start. Omer Onan (194-G-78, agency: Interperformances) and Semih Erden (211-C-87) quickly built a 10:4 lead for the hosts. Omer Onan and Will Solomon (187-G-78, college: Clemson) kept on delivering the points and led Fenerbahce to a 16:6 advantage. Turk Telecom struggled to find the right rhythm and appeared trailing by 9 points at the end of the first frame. Erwin Dudley and Baris Ozcan cut the gap to 6 points early in the second period. But the home team reacted with an 8:0 run to clear off to a 14-point distance. Kris Lang (211-F/C-79, agency: SportsTalent, college: N.Carolina) and Khalid El-Amin (178-G-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: Connecticut) ignited a 9:1 run from the visitors to stay in a striking range at 30:36. Demir Kaan fired from downtown to give Fenerbahce a 39:30 lead. The hosts maintained the margin and led by 10 points at the interval 50:40. Omer Asik (211-C-86) and Omer Onan stretched the gap to 16 points early in the third period. But some vital attempts from Tutku Acik kept Turk Telecom in the game as they trailed by 10 points at the end of the third frame. However the battle never heated up in the fourth term. All Star 2008Beko All Star 2008 Match has been played today , March 22 , 2008 in Abdi Ipekci Arena. It was a great organization there.The most important event was the All Star Match , but there were also 3 point shoutout challenge and Powerade Dunk challenge. There were also several activities , such as the concert of turkish pop singer Yalin and Chigaco Bulls Girls. The activities started with 3 point shoutout challenge , then Powerade Dunk challenge and in the end was the All Star Match. All Star Match The All Star Match has been played between turkish and foreign players which play in the TBL. LIke all another All Star Matches which have been played , the foreign team won again. But this year was different then others because the turkish team was leading all the time until the foreign team made a 15-2 serie and change the score from 100-91 to 102-106 to win the match.It was a good chance for the turkish team to bring the first All Star Match victory, but the foreigns stop them again. The MVP of the match was scoring and rebound leader of the league, Quinton Quinton Hosley (198-G/F-84, college: Fresno St.) (198-G/F-84, college: Fresno St.) (198-G/F-84, college: Fresno St.) .In this match he scored 15 points and 8 rebounds , most of them in the last period to bring the victory. In the first round Alper Saruhan scored 15 points , Eric Chatfield 10 , Preston Shumpert 15 , Ogun Seving 8 and Omer Unver scored 19 points. So in the final 3 players were challenging. Preston Shumpert scored 15 points and Alper Saruhan 13 , while Omer Unver scored 18 points and became the winner. Powerade Dunk Challenge , James White the flying man The challengers were : James White from Fenerbahce , Curtis Withers from Beykoz , James Hughes from Alpella , Quinton Hosley from P.Karsiyaka and Richard Chaney from Oyak Renault.In the first round James White scored 98 points and Richard Richard Chaney 92 so both of them were finalist. The final round was spectacular.The players were challenging with great dunks and both bring maximum points . So it was decided to challenge again. In his last attempt James White was spectacular , he jumped from the free throw line to make an unbelievable dunk , so he got 50 points while Richard Richard Chaney bring only 46 and this dunk decided the winner. The players that will be parcipiating in the Beko All Star 2008 match have now been chosen. The match will be played on the 22nd of March, 2008 in Abdi Ipekci Arena. Turk Telekom got the Cup in Turkey and became so called Turkish Opel Cup champion. In the Final game against Oyak Renault the favorites triumphed with 80:61 victory. To reach the Final Turk Telekom beat Banvit 91:82 and then overcame Fenerbahce Ulker 73:72 in the semifinals. Fenerbahce Ulker Lifted President's Cup Trophy The defending champions Fenerbahce Ulker and Turkish Cup winners Efes Pilsen came face to face in Ankara for the President's Cup and Will Solomon (187-G-78, college: Clemson)'s game winning shot led Fenerbahce Ulker to 79-77 a victory in a breathtaking final. Ibrahim Kutluay (198-F/G-74)'s clutch game created a double digit deficit for Fenerbahce Ulker twice as Efes Pilsen failed to defend the perimeter. Towards the last quarter the beermen toughened up defensively and Kenny Gregory (197-G/F-78, college: Kansas) and Andre Hutson (202-F-79, college: Michigan St.) duo almost sealed the deal for Efes Pilsen but Will Solomon made the last shot only a few seconds remaining and led Fenerbahce Ulker to President's Cup title against his former team.
