TBL Final Series: Ulker, The Champions of 2005/2006 TBL Season!
A highly motivated Ulker squad came up very tough and slammed a hopeless Efes Pilsen in Game 3 to sweep the final series and grabbed the fourth TBL championship in it's 13 year old history. The defending champs started the game with a different starting line up. Ender Arslan and Nikola Prkacin started the game instead of Marko Popovic and Ermal Kurtoglu. On the other hand Vrbica Stefanov was on the bench as Cuneyt Erden, the hero of Game 2 was on the floor again. Both teams got off to a good start on offence, feeding the big guys in the paint or driving to the hoop and Ulker led the first quarter by one thanks to Ibrahim Kutluay. In the second quarter Ulker tougned up defensively, outrebounded Efes front court and received a big boost by it's bench to open up a 9 point advantage at the half. The second half was no different than the third quarter even though Robert Gulyas left the game with a sprained ankle but Ira Clark was there and he was too tough to handle. Ulker contained Nikola Prkacin with double teams, ran fast breaks while Efes coach Oktay Mahmuti decided to play with 2 point guards to stop turnovers and sideline Domercant and Charles Smith till the end of game but nothing worked except Cenk Akyol who came off the bench and tried to rally his team. In the last quarter Ermal Kurtoglu who has done a good job in the play offs so far stepped in to the floor for the first time but Murat Ozyer's squad was already up by 17 and they never looked back. Ulker captain Ibrahim Kutluay who has averaged 17.3 point per game in the final series, scored a game high 20 points and grabbed the first TBL title of his carrier. Jeff Trepagnier and Ira Clark both came off the bench and made a huge contribution at the both ends of the floor while Mirsad Turkcan did an impressive job which can not be limited with stats. On the other side Kerem Gonlum's energy and Cenk Akyol's all off the bench 19 points were nothing but a consolation for the beermen. Ulkerspor has managed to take the TBL title for the first time since they won the Trophy in 2001 and they also stopped Efes Pilsen to grab the fifth title in a row.
Efes Pilsen(62): Ender Arslan 6, Ermal Kurtoglu 6, Baris Ermis 0, Charles Smith 3, Nikola Prkacin 10, Cenk Akyol 19, Mustafa Abi 0, Alper Yilmaz 0, Kerem Gonlum 10, Henry Domercant 0, Kaya Peker 4, Marko Popovic 4

Efes Pilsen Wins The Turkish Cup
Efes Pilsen clinched Turkish Cup 2006 in Adana after edging Ulker for the first time in their three meeting this season. Having lost two previous meetings against Ulker-including a defeat at Turkish Presidency Cup final -Efes Pilsen made sure this one had a lesser drama in itself as they opened up a 14 point lead at the end of first quarter getting solid contributions from Peker and Granger's 8 points respectively. One could feel the pressure surrounding these guys and just like that Mirsad had to get some stitches after tangling up with Kaya Peker in the paint. However, he was able to come back dominate the paint scoring 13 points in the first half. Cuneyt Erden also contributed with 10 points in the second quarter and just like that ulker cut Efes' lead to 8 points.
Ulker who has size disadvantage in the paint made their job tougher after Mirsad Turkcan picked up a technical after arguing with the referee. Ibrahim Kutluay who was under strict supervision of Mustafa Abi could find his first basket in the center of the third quarter and added a layup to make it a one point game. Gulyas and Oguz Savas fought hard but Ulker was only able to tie the game at 55 early in the fourth quarter. Then Antonio Granger (198-G-76, college: Boston Coll.) fired back two long distance bombs and Popovic added five to increase their lead to 11 points after Mirsad was called for his fifth personal foul. Ulker desperate to score inched within four points after Gulyas hit a unusual three off the back board with 18 second left in the game. In the remaining seconds, Popovic hit two free thrıows to seal the deal for Efes. Antonio Granger, who was unstoppable throughout the tournament averaging 20 points, chipped in a game-high 19 points to get the MVP award.
