American Paige Meyer (168-G-2002) had a very impressive game in the last round for Essex Rebels and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 23-year old guard had the game-high 33 points adding three rebounds for Essex R. in her team's victory, helping them to edge out Sheffield H. (#4, 3-2) 103-102. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Rebels is placed at 3rd position in British WSLB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Essex R. will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. Meyer turned to be Rebels's top player in her first season with the team. Paige Meyer averages this season 18.5ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international guard Georgia Gayle (175-G-1997) of Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters. Gayle impressed basketball fans with 40 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Hatters was edged by slightly higher-ranked Essex R. (#3, 3-1) 103-102. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Sheffield H. still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team's 3-2 record is not bad at all. Gayle is one of the most experienced players at Sheffield H. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.8ppg (#7). She also recorded 4.3 assists per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Essex R.'s star - American Quinesha Lockett (178-G-2001). Lockett scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of Essex Rebels, helping her team with a 103-102 win against #4 ranked Sheffield H.. Rebels needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost game. Lockett has a great season in United Kingdom. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.8ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 7.5rpg (9th best).
