An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Riga. Top-ranked Latvian TTT Riga faced 3rd ranked Lithuanian Neptunas. Host TTT Riga (8-0) defeated guests from Klaipeda (6-3) 79-62. American point guard Kyra Lambert (175-1996, college: Texas) fired 12 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Lithuanian forward Gabija Meskonyte (181-1998) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. TTT Riga's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Marina Solopova (180-1990) produced 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Undefeated TTT Riga have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-0 record behind leader LCC Klaipeda. Neptunas at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Aistes-LSMU. TTT Riga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Neptunas will play on the road against Siauliai (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Latvian BJBS Riga (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-58 loss to seventh ranked Lithuanian Aistes-LSMU (6-3) in Kaunas. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Gedvile Savostaite (180-2002) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Gintare Paulauskaite contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Emilija Stelmahere replied with 15 points for BJBS Riga. Aistes-LSMU moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Neptunas. BJBS Riga at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Aistes-LSMU will play against Kibirkstis-MRU (#7) in Vilnius in the next round. BJBS Riga will play on the road against Jurmala (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Siauliai. Local Siauliai (7-2) outscored 5th ranked Latvian RSU (6-5) 79-51 on Sunday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Cassidy Mihalko who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side Sarlote Septe responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Siauliai have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 7-2 record having 2 victories less than leader LCC Klaipeda. Loser RSU dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Siauliai will meet at home Neptunas (#5) in the next round. RSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena TTT Juniores.
