Round 3 (Regular Season): RSU lose to Kibirkstis

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in WBBL. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Latvian RSU (1-1) in Vilnius on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Lithuanian Kibirkstis (3-0) 105-55. Kibirkstis dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to RSU's 28. Kibirkstis forced 23 RSU turnovers and outrebounded them 50-24 including a 21-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kibirkstis looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by RSU's players. It was a great evening for who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Japreece Dean (168-1996, college: UCLA) helped adding 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was Ieva Vevere with 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kibirkstis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. RSU will play at home against Siauliai (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
One of the most interesting games of round 3 was a derby match between two teams from Lithuania. LCC Klaipeda won against visiting Aistes-LSMU (0-2) 80-65. It was an exceptional evening for who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Maisa Pereira accounted for 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. LCC Klaipeda's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gedvile Savostaite came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for Aistes-LSMU in the defeat. LCC Klaipeda will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aistes-LSMU will play on the road against TTT Riga (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Klaipeda. Lithuanian host Neptunas (2-0) defeated Latvian TTT Riga (1-1) 85-72. The best player for the winners was Caitlin Bickle who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Enija Kivite who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Neptunas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TTT Riga will play against Aistes-LSMU (#10) and hope to win that game.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 16 points and 13 rebounds by Tjasa Turnsek of LCC Klaipeda.

Neptunas - TTT Riga 85-72

The game between Top Four teams took place in Klaipeda. Lithuanian host Neptunas (2-0) defeated Latvian TTT Riga (1-1) 85-72. Neptunas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Caitlin Bickle (185-2000, college: Baylor) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Latvian forward Kate Vilka (184-1996, college: Fordham) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Neptunas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian forward Niyah Becker (188-2000, college: Wake Forest) added 17 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Neptunas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TTT Riga will play against Aistes-LSMU (#10) and hope to win that game.
