Lithuanian Siauliai has registered their first victory this season after two consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Riga, where they outplayed Latvian RSU (1-2) 87-67 on Saturday. Siauliai dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to RSU's 30 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Siauliai forced 22 RSU turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Lily Wahinekapu (170, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and who added 17 points during the contest. At the losing side forward Luize Septe (180-1999, college: S.Florida) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Siauliai left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with defeated RSU. Siauliai is looking forward to face higher ranked TTT Riga (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. RSU will play against TSA Tallinn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Estonian TSA Tallinn has registered their first victory this season after one consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Lithuanian Panevezys (0-3) 77-69. The winners were led by guard Laura Grunmann (175-2008) who scored that evening 25 points and Emma-Mia Kuttis supported her with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds by American guard Lily Wahinekapu (170, college: Hawaii) did not help to save the game for Panevezys. TSA Tallinn (1-1) left bottom position moving up to fifth place. Panevezys at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Aistes-LSMU. TSA Tallinn will play against RSU (#7) in Riga in the next round. Panevezys will play on the road against LCC Klaipeda and hope to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Lithuanian Aistes-LSMU (0-3) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their third consecutive match to fourth ranked Latvian TTT Riga (2-1) 86-49 on Sunday evening. Niyah Becker fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. TTT Riga's coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gintare Paulauskaite produced 15 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Defending Latvian champion maintains fourth position with 2-1 record. Loser Aistes-LSMU still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Panevezys. TTT Riga will meet Siauliai (#6) on the road in the next round. Aistes-LSMU will have a break next round.
