The semifinals sent USA and Australia to the Final

USA and Australia will meet in the Final of FIBA U21 World Championship for Women. Both teams upset their opponents in the semifinals of the tournament. USA prevail Russia, while Australia rolled over France 88:81.

Australia started with with a 8-0 run and were leading 25:14 at the end of the first quarter. The second stanza was a complete different story, France made a 13-0 run in 5 minutes to take the lead, 25:27. Australia was only leading by one, 74:73 with 5 minutes remaining. Later on the the Sapphires stayed cool with 88:81 win and advanced to the Final. Jenna O'Hea (185-G/F-87) led the winners with 21points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Renae Camino (177-G-86) and Kathleen MacLeod added 13 points each. A great game was shown by French Sandrine Gruda (192-F/C-87) and Miyem. They combined together 51 point and made 18 rebounds.

USA beat the host team Russia 86:61. Trailing 19:9 with 3:14 remaining in the opening period Russia failed in the game. Crystal Langhorne (188-C/F-86)'s jump shot gave the visitors their first lead at 20:19. USA had already 40:25 at the half time. Candice Wiggins (180-G-87) led the winners with 27 points, while Crystal Langhorne added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ekaterina Lisina (198-C-87) posted 10 points in the losing effort.
