Very expected game when 16th rankedJugla (5-10) was crushed by third ranked Jelgava (11-4) 73-46 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Jelgava. Jugla managed to win fourth quarter 13-12 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jelgava dominated on the defensive end, holding Jugla to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Jugla 's 30. Jelgava forced 21 Jugla turnovers and outrebounded them 54-28 including a 27-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jelgava looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Jugla 's players. The best player for the winners was Edvards Salajevs who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. Kristians Kluns chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Jelgava players scored in double figures. Jelgava's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mikus Konosonoks produced 27 points and 5 rebounds and Nils Smits added 6 points respectively for Jelgava . They have an impressive five-game winning streak. Despite that victory Jelgava went down to eighth position due to points difference, which they share with BS Riga. Loser Jugla dropped to the twenty second place with ten games lost. They share the position with Basketbola klase.
