Leader Balkan delivered the thirteenth victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked Academik Plovdiv (7-7) 83-64 in Botevgrad. Balkan players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard Daishon Knight (185-91, college: Illinois St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 8 assists. The other American import power forward Kenny Hall (206-90, college: Tennessee) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. International Vasil Bachev (195-92, college: Cuesta JC) replied with 18 points and 6 assists and Bosnian center Obrad Tomic (208-93, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Academik Plovdiv. Five Balkan and four Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Balkan (13-1) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position, which they share with Levski Lukoil. Academik Plovdiv at the other side keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Balkan will play against Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Academik Plovdiv will play at home against Rilski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
