Regular Season Round 16: Svendborg - Stevnsgade 89-84
Date: January 9, 2016
There was no surprise when 7th ranked Stevnsgade (3-13) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Svendborg (10-7) 89-84. The hosts were already 18 points ahead at halftime and as many as 22 after three quarters before a 38-21 last quarter charge of Stevnsgade cut the lead to 89-84 at the end of the game. Svendborg forced 20 Stevnsgade turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The winners were led by American guard Brandon Rozzell (188-89, college: VCU) who scored that evening 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Argentinian-Italian point guard Antonio Porta (187-83, agency: Players Group) supported him with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Svendborg's coach Craig Pedersen allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by French Bruno Cingala-Mata (200-93) did not help to save the game for Stevnsgade. Guard Jonel Visaq (195-88) added 18 points and 4 steals for lost side. Five Svendborg and four Stevnsgade players scored in double figures. Svendborg maintains fourth position with 10-7 record. Newly promoted Stevnsgade keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost. Svendborg's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked SISU (#8) in Copenhagen.
