Regular Season Round 10: Stevnsgade - Bakken 87-108
Date: November 19, 2016
Bottom-ranked Stevnsgade (0-9) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to second ranked Bakken (6-1) 108-87 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Bakken. Stevnsgade managed to win fourth quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bakken dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Stevnsgade's 42. They outrebounded Stevnsgade 31-20 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bakken looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-Trinidad and Tobago guard Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-93, college: Illinois St.) fired 23 points for the winners. Senegalese center Michel Diouf (208-89) chipped in 17 points. Bakken's coach Jakob Freil felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Davie Champagnie (206-90, college: Martin Methodist) produced 25 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Jesper Sandager (194-96) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bakken maintains second position with 6-1 record having just three points less than leader Horsens IC. Loser Stevnsgade still closes the standings with nine games lost. Bakken will meet at home Naestved (#6) in the next round.
