Regular Season Round 17: Randers - Stevnsgade 107-74

Bottom-ranked Stevnsgade (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 107-74 loss to fifth ranked Randers (8-9) in Randers on Wednesday evening. The game without a history. Randers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Randers forced 22 Stevnsgade turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Randers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international swingman Chris Nielsen (193-85) stepped up and scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and American-Belizean point guard Charles Burgess (186-84, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Randers players scored in double figures. Swingman Jesper Sandager (194-96) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists and Nicolas Christensen (190-90) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Randers moved-up to fourth place. Loser Stevnsgade still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Randers will meet at home league's leader Horsens IC in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stevnsgade will play against SISU (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
