Regular Season Round 12: Vilpas - Seagulls 99-102

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Korisliiga took place in Salo. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th rankedVilpas (6-5) to first ranked Seagulls (10-2) 102-99 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vilpas. Seagulls made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Vilpas outrebounded Seagulls 45-29 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Seagulls especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Seagulls made 7 blocks. It was a good game for American guard Tevin Olison (194-1998, college: YSU, agency: One Motive Sports) who led his team to a victory with 28 points. International point guard Lassi Nikkarinen (188-1997, college: Montana St.) contributed with 17 points and 8 assists for the winners. American forward Omar Payne (208-2001, college: UCF, agency: Inception Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 20 rebounds and 7 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Samu Adler (196-2007, agency: Blacktop Management) added 26 points and 4 assists in the effort for Vilpas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vilpas' coach Jussi Savolainen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Seagulls have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-2 record. Vilpas at the other side dropped to the sixth place with five games lost.
