Regular Season Round 9: Kataja - Vilpas 87-83
Date: November 8, 2025
Second defeat of league's leaderVilpas (7-2) against twelfth ranked Kataja (2-7) 87-83 was the most important game of the last round. Kataja made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Vilpas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Jermaine Marshall (198-2000, college: Samford) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Forward Henri Permanto (197-2001) contributed with 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jalen Brooks (196-1999, college: LSUS, agency: Players Group) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Ansley Almonor (201-2002, college: Kentucky) added 19 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Vilpas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vilpas' coach Jussi Savolainen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kataja moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Kobrat. Vilpas at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Seagulls who have the same record. Vilpas will play next round against league's leader Seagulls trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Kataja will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Karhubasket in Kauhajoki.
