Regular Season Round 17: Charleville-M. - Chartres 83-72

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Charleville-M. (11-6) defeated at home bottom-ranked Chartres (3-14) 83-72 on Friday. Charleville-M. made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Chartres turnovers. Charleville-M. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Point guard Coline Franchelin (166-1999) stepped up and scored 16 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Mozambican power forward Leia Dongue (185-1991) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Four Charleville-M. players scored in double figures. Canadian guard Shaylisha Colley (176-1996, college: Michigan St.) responded with 19 points and American forward Kendall Cooper (193-1995, college: Duke) scored 17 points. Charleville-M. moved-up to second place, which they share with BLMA and Charnay. Newly promoted Chartres stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Charleville-M. will meet league's leader Bourges on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chartres will play against Landes (#5) and hope to secure a win.
