Second Stage Round 9: Angers - Metz 84-79

Not a big story in a game when 12th rankedMetz (13-22) was defeated on the road by second ranked Etoile Angers (14-7) 84-79 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Angers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Lucas Veraghe (197-2001) who scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Eddy Djedje (197-1995) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Etoile Angers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Moustapha Toure (202-2002) who recorded 15 points and 6 rebounds and guard Alexandre Karolak (192-1995) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Etoile Angers have a solid series of three victories in a row. Despite that victory Angers went down to ninth position due to points difference. Metz lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth place with 22 games lost. They share the position with Charleville.
