Second Stage Round 11: Quimper - Le Havre 58-60
Date: April 18, 2025
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-rankedQuimper UJAP (29-8) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were edged by second ranked STB Le Havre (28-9) 60-58 . It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Quimper UJAP. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Kenyan-American forward Joel Awich (201-1993, college: Cal Poly) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Steven Cayol (193-1997) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Benoit Injai (186-1997) answered with 15 points and 5 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and point guard Antoine Dudit (181-1997) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Quimper. Quimper UJAP's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Le Havre maintains second place with 28-9 record having just six point less than leader Quimper. Quimper at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. Le Havre are looking forward to face Tours (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Quimper will play against Mulhouse (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
