Sixth rankedJA Vichy (17-11) saved a 2-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Entente Orleans 45 (17-10) 74-72 on Friday evening. Vichy forced 19 Orleans turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Orleans was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese forward Pape Diop (203-1996, college: Cape Breton) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 11 rebounds. Cameroonian-Gabonese center Brice Eyaga (204-1998) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Lorenzo Thirouard-Samson (197-2001, agency: Network Sports International) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and Croatian Tomislav Gabric (204-1995, agency: Octagon Europe) added 20 points in the effort for Orleans. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Vichy moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Denain-Voltaire. Orleans lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost.
