There was a small surprise when ninth rankedBesancon (12-23) edged at home 7th ranked Etoile Angers (15-20) 79-76 on Friday. Besancon outrebounded Angers 37-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. Besancon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Lithuanian Augustinas Venckus (190-1997) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 assists for the winners and swingman Claudien Eliezer-Vanerot (192-2001) chipped in 6 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Besancon's coach Laurent Kleefstra used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Yanis Harrath (178-1998) with 17 points and 5 assists and naturalized Ivorian swingman Junior Ouattara (191-2000) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Besancon maintains ninth place with 12-23 record, which they share with Pays Salonais. Loser Etoile Angers keeps the seventh position with 20 games lost.
