Regular Season Round 17: TSU - Batumi 80-75

Date: March 16, 2025
There was no surprise in Tbilisi where 7th ranked Batumi (7-8) was defeated by fourth ranked TSU (9-7) 80-75 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-10. But Batumi won second period 20-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TSU made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international point guard George Tsintsadze (194-1986) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 assists for the winners and the former international forward Aleksandre Phevadze (207-1998) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Jaxon Brenchley (196, college: Denver) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Kalen Williams (188, college: A&M-Commerce) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Batumi's coach Anatoli Berishvili rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TSU maintains fourth place with 9-7 record. Loser Batumi dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with RASHI. TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Amra Gagra.
