There was a minor upset in Langen where 9th ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (2-6) was defeated by eleventh ranked Rhein Main Baskets (2-6) 62-57 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Rhein Main Baskets dominated on the defensive end, holding ChemCats Chemnitz to just 6 points in third quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Svenja Greunke (188-89) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds and center Francis Pieczynski (186-89) who added 6 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. American center Molly Schlemer (196-92, college: Cal Poly - SLO) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and Bosnian Marina Dzinic (190-92) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four ChemCats Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Rhein Main Baskets moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Chemnitz and Marburg. ChemCats Chemnitz lost fourth consecutive game. Rhein Main Baskets will meet at home BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#10) in the next round. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against TH Wohnbau Angels and hope to secure a win.
