Regular Season Round 9: Ehingen - Bayer Giants 74-63

Ehingen/Urspringschule has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Bayer Giants (2-7) 74-63 on Sunday. Ehingen/Urspringschule made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was center Mahir Agva (206-96) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four Ehingen/Urspringschule players scored in double figures. Ehingen/Urspringschule's coach Michael Spoecker used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ben Spoeler (206-88) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Richard Carter (180-92, college: Drake) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively. Ehingen/Urspringschule (1-8) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with Cuxhaven. Bayer Giants at the other side keep the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Ehingen/Urspringschule will meet higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayer Giants will play against BV Chemnitz 99 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
