Regular Season Round 5: Trier - ETB Wohnbau 53-50

Important game to mention about took place in Trier. Eighth ranked Gladiators (3-2) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 14th ranked ETB Wohnbau (1-4) 53-50 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 53-50. ETB Wohnbau was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Dwayne Evans (198-92, college: St.Louis) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Johnathan Loyd (173-91, college: Oregon) produced 7 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Paul Albrecht (205-93) added 7 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gladiators moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser ETB Wohnbau keeps the fourteenth position with four games lost. Gladiators will face Bayer Giants (#13) in Leverkusen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ETB Wohnbau will play at home against Kirchheim Knights and hope to win that game.
