Regular Season Round 11: Trier - Dragons 93-57

Date: November 22, 2015
There was no surprise in Trier where 16th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (1-10) was crushed by twelfth ranked Gladiators (5-6) 93-57 on Sunday. The game without a history. Gladiators led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gladiators outrebounded Dragons Rhoendorf 51-30 including a 51-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman Brandon Spearman (190-91, college: Hawaii) who scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Dwayne Evans (198-92, college: St.Louis) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Gladiators players scored in double figures. American point guard Sterling Carter (183-90, college: Purdue) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and center Florian Wendeler (205-93) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gladiators moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Dragons Rhoendorf stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Gladiators will face higher ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against the league's leader Science City Jena (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
