There was a small surprise in Essen where fourteenth ranked White Wings (5-8) outscored 12th ranked ETB Wohnbau (5-8) 83-62 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-62. White Wings made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. White Wings outrebounded ETB Wohnbau 35-24 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Kruize Pinkins (201-93, college: USF) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Luke Loucks (196-90, college: Florida St.) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Four White Wings players scored in double figures. Brian Wenzel (196-91) produced 12 points and forward Paul Albrecht (205-93) added 12 points respectively for lost side. ETB Wohnbau's coach Igor Krizanovic gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. White Wings moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Finke Baskets and ETB Wohnbau. White Wings will meet at home higher ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ETB Wohnbau will play against Dragons Rhoendorf (#16) and hope to secure a win.
