Regular Season Round 17: Heidelberg - Hanau 67-62

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (9-7) defeated at home 11th ranked White Wings (6-11) 67-62. It looked good early as White Wings took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then MLP Academics Heidelberg had a 18-14 second period charge getting the lead and White Wings were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-67. MLP Academics Heidelberg made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. American point guard Bryan Smithson (183-85, college: NC-Asheville) nailed 17 points for the winning side and naturalized Russian forward Albert Kuppe (200-88) accounted for 11 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Kruize Pinkins (201-93, college: USF) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Miles Jackson-Cartwright (190-92, college: Pennsylvania) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for White Wings in the defeat. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Koeln Rh.Stars. Newly promoted White Wings dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (#16) on the road and are hoping to win another game. White Wings will play against Bayer Giants and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
