Regular Season Round 15: Speyer - Weissenhorn 96-94

Important game to mention about took place in Speyer. Twelfth ranked Speyer (3-12) saved a 2-point victory at home edging higher ranked Weissenhorn Youngstars (7-8) 96-94 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Speyer made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Weissenhorn Youngstars were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Swingman Alexander Kuhn (198-92) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Nils Mittmann (201-79) who recorded 22 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Christopher Anderson (170-92, college: San Diego) added 13 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Weissenhorn Youngstars' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Speyer maintains twelfth place in South with 3-12 record. Loser Weissenhorn Youngstars keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Speyer will face higher ranked USC Leipzig (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
