Very predictable result when third ranked Kirchheim Knights (14-6) defeated on the road 9th ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (9-10) 68-63 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 20-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Kirchheim Knights looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard Richard Williams (177-87, college: San Diego St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 8 points, 5 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals. Naturalized Albanian guard Besnik Bekteshi (189-93) helped adding 17 points. Kirchheim Knights' coach Michael Mai used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Nate Buss (206-92, college: N.Iowa, agency: SPORTlab Agency) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Kirchheim Knights have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 14-6 record having just two points less than leader Jena. BV Chemnitz 99 lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Kirchheim Knights will face White Wings (#12) in Hanau in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BV Chemnitz 99 will play on the road against Oettinger Rockets Gotha and hope to win that game.
