Regular Season Round 19: Recklinghausen - Art.Dragons 77-63

There was an upset when 4th placed Artland Dragons (11-8) lost on the road to eleventh ranked Recklinghausen (6-13) 77-63 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for American guard Cavel Witter (183-87, college: Creighton) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Christoph Bruns (180-87) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Benjamin Fumey (203-87, college: Valparaiso) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and American power forward Austin Bragg (206-91, college: W.Washington) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Artland Dragons. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Recklinghausen moved-up to ninth place in North, which they share with Stahnsdorf. Loser Artland Dragons keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Recklinghausen will face higher ranked Hertener Loewen (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Artland Dragons will play against SC Rist Wedel (#12) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
