There was no surprise when 13th ranked Telekom Baskets (8-15) were defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Giessen 46ers (11-11) 87-72 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Giessen 46ers's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-14 extending their advantage to 15 points. Giessen 46ers forced 20 Telekom Baskets turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) who scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) chipped in 19 points. Four Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. Giessen 46ers' coach Denis Wucherer used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard Eugene Lawrence (184-86, college: St.John's) produced 15 points and 8 assists and the other American import Aaron White (206-92, college: Iowa) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Giessen 46ers. They moved-up to ninth place. Loser Telekom Baskets keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Giessen 46ers will face BBC Bayreuth (#12) on the road in the next round. Telekom Baskets will play against Walter Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
