Regular Season Round 29: Giessen 46ers - Braunschweig 73-71

A very interesting game took place in Giessen. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 10th ranked Braunschweig (12-17) to ninth ranked Giessen 46ers (15-13) 73-71 on Friday evening. Braunschweig was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 23-17 charge of Giessen 46ers, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. British center Gabriel Olaseni (211-91, college: Iowa, agency: Pensack Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds. American guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) contributed with 5 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Amin Stevens (201-90, college: Florida A&M) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import point guard Derek Needham (180-90, college: Fairfield) added 19 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Braunschweig. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Giessen 46ers moved-up to eighth place. Braunschweig lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 17 games lost. Giessen 46ers' next round opponent will be higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (#7) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Braunschweig will play against BG Goettingen and hope to win that game.
