Eighteenth-ranked Crailsheim Merlins (5-24) gave a tough game to fourth ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (21-7) on Saturday. The visitors from Ludwigsburg managed to secure only one-point victory 75-74. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Crailsheim Merlins won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Jon Brockman (201-87, college: Washington) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import Roderick Trice (185-84, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 13 points and 9 assists. EnBW Ludwigsburg's coach John Patrick used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Konrad Wysocki (200-82, college: Princeton) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for EnBW Ludwigsburg. They maintain fourth place with 21-7 record. Crailsheim Merlins lost their fourteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. EnBW Ludwigsburg will meet at home league's second-placed Bayern Muenchen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Crailsheim Merlins will play against ALBA Berlin (#6) and hope to secure a win.
