Regular Season Round 6: Bayer Giants - Wuerzburg 93-73

Everything went according to plan in Leverkusen where eighth ranked Bayer Giants (3-3) outleveled 11th ranked Wuerzburg (1-5) 93-73 on Sunday. They outrebounded Wuerzburg 42-31 including 28 on the defensive glass. Bayer Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Wuerzburg was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Brandon Nazione (203-94, college: E.Michigan) who scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import guard Kerry Carter (188-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 24 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Marcellus Barksdale (196-93, college: IUPUI) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds and center Christoph Hackenesch (204-86) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Bayer Giants moved-up to fifth place in South, which they share with 3 other teams. Wuerzburg lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with five games lost. Bayer Giants will face USC Leipzig (#11) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Wuerzburg will play against Dragons Rhoendorf and hope to win that game.
