Regular Season Round 8: MBC - Heidelberg 70-62

Second defeat of MLP Academics Heidelberg (6-2) against third ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (7-1) 70-62 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of MLP Academics Heidelberg. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Mitteldeutscher BC made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. American guard Andrew Warren (196-87, college: Bradley, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. Naturalized American forward Sergio Kerusch (195-89, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Croatia guard Hrvoje Kovacevic (190-86) replied with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and center Phillipp Heyden (206-88) added 18 points in the effort for MLP Academics Heidelberg. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mitteldeutscher BC have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Kirchheim. MLP Academics Heidelberg at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Crailsheim. They were replaced at the leadership position by Kirchheim. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play next round against Koeln Rh.Stars trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Mitteldeutscher BC will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked Titans in Dresden.
