Top ranked Kirchheim Knights (11-2) recorded its second loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked Gladiators (6-7) 90-72. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Kirchheim Knights. Gladiators well out of reach of Kirchheim Knights shooting 74.0 percent from the field. Gladiators had a 27-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Gladiators looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American forward Ryan Nicholas (201-91, college: Portland) fired 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Point guard Simon Schmitz (188-90) chipped in 6 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists. Gladiators' coach Marco van den Berg used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jonathon Williams (198-90, college: Wagner) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Carrington Love (186-94, college: Green Bay) added 9 points and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gladiators moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Hamburg. Kirchheim Knights at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. Gladiators is looking forward to face Hamburg (#9) at home in the next round. Kirchheim Knights will play against the league's leader Mitteldeutscher BC (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
