Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Hertener Loewen (6-11) was edged on the road by sixth ranked Salzkotten (10-7) 88-87 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Salzkotten outrebounded Hertener Loewen 36-25 including 21 on the defensive glass. American guard Bryce Leavitt (193-94, college: Seattle Pacific) stepped up and scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and swingman Felix Wenningkamp (195-88) chipped in 23 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Salzkotten's coach Stefan Schettke allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Felix Neumann (201-90) responded with 30 points and American KJ Sherrill (203-91, college: Augusta) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Salzkotten maintains sixth place in West with 10-7 record. Loser Hertener Loewen dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Salzkotten will face Herford (#9) on the road in the next round. Hertener Loewen will play against Hagen-Haspe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
