Regular Season Round 17: Licher Baeren - Bayer Giants 94-84

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Bayer Giants (11-6) against eighth ranked Licher Basket (7-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Bayer Giants were defeated by Licher Basket in Lich 94-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bayer Giants. American players dominated the game. Guard K.K. Simmons (191-93, college: Pikeville) nailed 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and power forward Lamar Mallory (198-90, college: Glenville St.) accounted for 16 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Mallory is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Licher Basket players scored in double figures. Forward Brandon Nazione (202-94, college: E.Michigan) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and guard Kerry Carter (188-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 22 points and 5 assists respectively for Bayer Giants in the defeat. Bayer Giants' coach Achim Kuczmann rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Licher Basket moved-up to seventh place in South, which they share with Dragons and Wuerzburg. Bayer Giants at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Licher Basket will meet league's leader Karlsruhe PS on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayer Giants will play against Fraport Skyliners II and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the just one year after relegation.
