Regular Season Round 19: Ibbenbueren - Schwelm 96-86

Fourth defeat of league's leader SG Schwelmer Baskets (15-4) against tenth ranked Ibbenbueren (9-10) 96-86 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of SG Schwelmer Baskets. Ibbenbueren made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of British guard Rishi Kakad (188-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific) who helped to win the game recording 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). American guard Chris Hortman (190-88, college: Wisc.-Stout) contributed with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Ibbenbueren's coach Christian Beuing used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lithuanian swingman Andrius Mikutis (194-88, college: John Brown) answered with 26 points and 8 rebounds and American swingman Harry Boyce (193-85, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for SG Schwelmer Baskets. Four SG Schwelmer Baskets players scored in double figures. Ibbenbueren have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place in West, which they share with Duesseldorf and Bonn II. SG Schwelmer Baskets at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Hagen BG. They were replaced at the leadership position by Coburg. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play next round against strong Grevenbroich trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Ibbenbueren will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Herford on the road.
