Very important is a road loss of third ranked Bayer Giants (13-8) against eighth ranked Wuerzburg (9-12) on Sunday night. Visiting Bayer Giants were defeated by Wuerzburg in Wuerzburg 82-72. Wuerzburg forced 19 Bayer Giants turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for center Georg Voigtmann (213-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Marcellus Barksdale (196-93, college: IUPUI) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Wuerzburg players scored in double figures. American forward Brandon Nazione (202-94, college: E.Michigan) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Kerry Carter (188-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Bayer Giants. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Wuerzburg moved-up to seventh place in South, which they share with Dragons and Fraport SKY II. Bayer Giants at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Wuerzburg's next round opponent will be higher ranked BG Karlsruhe (#6) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayer Giants will play against Elchingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
